Censorship There has been recent dissent among a few moviegoers that the censorship in Canada is going to the extreme. Many of the younger generation feel that the religious and moral values of the National Film Board should not be pressed upon them. “We have the right to chose what we want to see,” one young person, who wished to remain anonymous, said. “I can understand a few of the points, but this is going a bit too far! The views of a small group of people don’t reflect ours!” On the other hand, several people are praising the NFB’s efforts. “I sure don’t want my children viewing anything with any immoral happenings. In fact, I don’t think that the National Film Board goes far enough. Movies should be pure and about God, not some tramp in a short skirt,” an indignant mother had protested. Out of all the provinces, censorship is the most severe in Quebec where everything from violence to anti-patriotism is removed. |
